I will probably never forget where I was on the morning
of December 31, 2011. I attended Shabbat morning
services in the Ida and Jules Lowengard Synagogue at
Menorah Manor, and what made that morning
particularly memorable was the Bat Mitzvah of 96 year
old Samson Nursing Center resident, Myrna Barg.

The Menorah Manor Family consists of hundreds of individuals around Florida’s Gulf Coast in addition to some across the country. These individuals include skilled nursing and assisted living residents, day center participants, families of residents, dedicated staff and of course, volunteers!
One of these exceptional and caring volunteers is David Gordon. David has been volunteering at Menorah Manor for nineteen years. “I feel good when I volunteer… the people at Menorah Manor are my close friends and family,” said David.
Every month the various department heads and myself choose a volunteer who exemplifies the mission of Menorah Manor’s community service program, which is to enhance the lives of our residents through volunteer activities. Leslie “Les” Jones was our July volunteer of the month. This is his story.
