Tonight's recipe, Figgy Latkes, is as easy as it is delicious!

Ingredients:

  • Jarred fig jam
  • Chopped, toasted Walnuts
  • Crumbled Blue Cheese

Spoon jarred fig jam onto each latke, then top with chopped, toasted walnuts and crumbled blue cheese.

Yesterday, we posted three latke toppings that were published earlier this week in the St. Pete Times and then made by one of our Renew You chefs. As a special request by Elaine Garon, our Guild gift shop co-chair on the St. Petersburg campus, today's recipe is, Pear Compote With Pear Brandy!

On Wednesday, December 14, the St. Pete Times published an article, A New Life for Your Latke, which featured a traditional latke recipe along with eight nights worth of gourmet toppings. Over the next few days, one of our chefs, Justin Robinson, tried these out on our Renew You guests and they were a huge success! Below are the first three recipes and we will publish one more for each night of Chanukah.  Bon Appétit!

Happy Chanukah!

Menorah Manor staff and volunteers will be lighting candles with our residents each night of Chanukah this year between 4 p.m. and 5 p.m. See below for the nightly schedule beginning on December 20 and ending on December 27.

A RECIPE BY BARBARA BAUGHMAN, MENORAH MANOR GUILD

1 pack of dry yeast • one 1/4 c. of sugar • 3 c. of flour • 1 tsp. salt

1 1/4 c. of warm milk (whisked) • 1/4 c. of canola oil • 2 egg yolks
1 egg
1 tsp. of vanilla • 1/4 tsp. lemon extract
Mix these with the dry ingredients.
